Congratulations to our club-level International Prepared Speech and Table Topics Contest winners. We had record numbers of members interested in competing and heard great speeches from those who were eligible to compete.

Our Prepared Speech first place winner is Chuck Romero and Second Place winner is Wayne Miller.

Our Table Topics first place winner is Christopher Manning and Second Place winner is Inga Evenchik.

The first place winners will compete at the Area contest on March 24th 69 W. Washington at 6pm. The second place winners will serve as alternate speakers and give a prepared speech in the contest if the first place winner cannot compete the day of competition.

All active members are invited to attend the Area contest on March 24th to encourage our club level winners and to learn by observing proficient speakers who have benefited from their Toastmasters training.

So you want to know why we compete and how are winners selected? Here you go:

PURPOSE

Contests provide an opportunity for speakers to improve their speaking abilities and recognize the best as encouragement to all.

SELECTION SEQUENCE

Club -> Area -> Division -> District -> Regional -> International

Districts outside of the United States and Canada will compete in the International contest held each August during the International Convention

SPEECH SUBJECT and PREPARATION

Contestants prepare their own original five to seven minute speeches. The subject is selected by the contestant and can be any topic and purpose.

JUDGING GUIDELINES

At Area level and above, a contest Chairman, Chief Judge, several judges, Counters, and Timers are appointed.

Judges rate each speech on the International Speech Judge's Form which evaluates specific areas of speech content, delivery and language.

TRAVEL ALLOWANCES

Toastmasters International will pay the travel expenses of each North American District’s contestant participating in the International Speech Contest at Regional and International levels.

Other travel expenses are the responsibility of the contestant, although our club will probably have a fundraiser in your honor if you take us that far!
