Hello Fellow Toastmasters
Spring is finally here! Spring is a time of renewal. We take out our spring and summer clothes and pack away the winter ones. We dust off our bikes and hit the bike paths along the lakefront. And, for some of us, we dust off our dormant speaking skills and start honing those communication skills we once mastered. That's right, it's renewal time for Toastmasters of Lincoln Park. If you haven't renewed yet let Treasurer Adrian Pyk know your intent of renewing so that he can continue/cease contacting you:-) Either way, best of luck to you in your communication endeavors!
April was a busy month for the club. On April 5 we hosted the Central North Division Speech Contest. With a full house in the Teaching Theater, we heard some fabulous speeches from surrounding club members. It was great to hear such motivating speeches. Congratulations to the following individuals for placing in the contest:

And on April 19 meeting, Dana Shapiro (CTM) led the meeting as Toastmaster and provided a great one-on-one opportunity to get to know fellow members and guests. Absent any prepared speeches and with 11 guests present, Dana made great use of the time by encouraging us to interview each other about the pros and cons of the media (radio, TV, print news, and the Internet). We heard some thought-provoking responses from everyone--including the 11 guests! A special kudos to Treatmaster Megan Bentz for bringing stellar treats for such a great turnout.
It's not too early to sign up for the next meeting on May 3. Log on to the sign up sheet and take on a role or speech and make your dues pay off. Each role provides an opportunity to contribute to the meeting, as well as contributing to developing and improving your speaking skills.
